CTA keyword: VISUAL · from the @compedge.ai x @am_roshh carousel
On 7 Oct 2026 OpenAI brought GPT-6 to ChatGPT with Intelligent UI: answers can now mix text with diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons and small tools built right in the chat. Below: 10 prompts written to get the most out of it, and how to dial the visuals down when you just want text.
What changed
- Intelligent UI. OpenAI says GPT-6 was trained to compose answers from text, visuals and interactive elements, and to pick the format that fits your question. Responses can include graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and interactive experiences you use inside the chat.
- It still answers in text when that is best. OpenAI says that when a simple text answer is the most useful response, ChatGPT gives you that.
- Tools on request. You can ask it to build a tool for the task in front of you. OpenAI's own examples: a calculator to explore how savings could grow, a bill splitter for dinner with friends, and a game you play in the conversation.
- Who gets which model. Per OpenAI and The Verge: Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise get GPT-6 Sol, rolling out from 7 Oct. Go and non-paying users get GPT-6 Luna, with the rollout expanding to them from 8 Oct. Rollouts take time, so you may not see it on day one.
- Where. OpenAI says the update applies to the Chat experience. The models behind Work and Codex are not changing in this release. For Enterprise, availability depends on workplace admin settings.
- You can turn it down. TechCrunch reports the feature is customizable: like other parts of ChatGPT's personality, you can dial the visuals back if you don't want so many.
The prompts and tips below are CompEdge's own, not OpenAI's. ChatGPT decides the final format, so results will vary.
How to use these prompts
- Swap everything in [BRACKETS] for your own details.
- Ask for the thing you want to touch: "let me change", "add a slider", "make it a calculator". Words like these tell ChatGPT you want something interactive, not a paragraph.
- If you get plain text back, reply in the same chat: "Show this as an interactive [diagram / chart / calculator] instead."
- Check every number. A tool built in the chat is only as right as the formula behind it. Ask "show me the formula you used" before you rely on it.
Part 1: Understand something (3 prompts)
1. Explore how it works
Explore how [THING, e.g. an
airplane wing generates lift].
Show it as an interactive diagram
I can tap to see each part, with
one short line on what each part
does. Then ask me 2 questions to
check I understood.
2. Change one input, see what happens
Explain [CONCEPT, e.g. compound
interest]. Give me a chart where I
can change [INPUT, e.g. the
interest rate and the years] and
watch the result update. Under
the chart, tell me in 3 lines what
the chart is showing.
3. Compare side by side
Compare [OPTION A], [OPTION B] and
[OPTION C] for [MY SITUATION]. Put
them side by side on [4 CRITERIA,
e.g. price, setup time, learning
curve, support]. Let me tap a
criterion to sort by it, and tell
me which one you would pick and
why.
Part 2: Build a tool you can use (4 prompts)
4. A calculator for your own numbers
Build me a calculator for
[TASK, e.g. how my savings could
grow]. Inputs: [INPUT 1], [INPUT
2], [INPUT 3]. Show the result as
a number and a chart over
[TIME]. Show the formula you
used under the calculator.
5. Bill splitter
Build a bill splitter for [N]
people. Let me add each item, its
price and who had it, plus tax
and a tip I can change. Show what
each person owes at the end.
6. Pricing or quote helper
I run [BUSINESS]. Build a quote
calculator for my customers:
inputs are [e.g. hours, materials,
rush job yes or no]. My rates are
[YOUR RATES]. Show the total and a
line by line breakdown I can copy
into an email.
7. Decision helper
Help me decide [DECISION, e.g.
which laptop to buy]. Ask me what
matters most, then build a simple
scoring table where I can change
the weight of each factor and see
the winner update.
Part 3: Plan something (3 prompts)
8. A plan with a timeline
Plan [EVENT, e.g. a Sunday dinner
for 6 friends, eating at 7 pm].
Show a timeline of what to do and
when, a checklist I can tick, and
a shopping list that changes when
I change the number of people.
9. A trip on a map
Plan a [N] day trip to [PLACE]
for [WHO]. Show the stops on a map
in order, with travel time between
them and one line on why each stop
is worth it. Mark which stops I
could skip if I'm short on time.
10. A study or practice set
I'm learning [TOPIC]. Make me a
10 question practice quiz with
buttons for each answer. After I
answer, show whether I was right
and a one line explanation. At the
end, show my score and the 2
ideas I should review.
Tip: keep going in the same chat. Ask "add a slider for [X]" or "make the chart a bar chart" instead of starting over.
How to turn the visuals down
TechCrunch reports you can dial Intelligent UI back if you don't want so many visuals, the same way you adjust other parts of ChatGPT's personality. So look near the personality options in ChatGPT's personalization settings. The exact place can differ by app and rollout, so here are two text based ways that do not depend on finding the switch (ours):
For one answer, add this line to your prompt:
Answer in plain text only. No
diagrams, charts, buttons or
interactive elements.
For every chat, add this to your custom instructions (personalization settings):
Default to short plain text
answers. Only use visuals,
charts or interactive elements
when I ask for them.
Want them back for one question? Just ask: "Show this as an interactive chart."
Your test sheet: fill this in
